Bill Shukalak Fonds
The Bill Shukalak fonds, dating from 1950 to 1990, comprising 166 photographs and various ephemera. Bill Shukalak was a union member who worked in construction camps across British Columbia and Alberta. He was proud of his work and shared stories of his experiences in the camps with his family.
The collection’s scope includes a photograph album with 166 black and white photos depicting work sites, camp activities, leisure pursuits, and family life.
Also featured are a miner’s certificate from the Northwest Territories dated 1950, membership cards, union pins (including a 20-year pin from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 115 and a 10-year pin from the Laborers International Union), and an aluminum hardhat bearing his name and a union sticker.
