Jack Munro Memorial Video, 2014
This nine-minute video is a tribute to the life and legacy of Jack Munro (1931-2013), a powerful and iconic figure in the British Columbia labour movement.
Initially airing at his public memorial gathering in January 2014, this video shows Jack Munro as the straight-talking, larger-than-life President of the International Woodworkers of America (IWA) from 1973 to 1998, where he relentlessly fought for workers’ rights and enhanced workplace safety.
After stepping down from union leadership, he dedicated his final years to spearheading the creation of the BC Labour Heritage Centre, ensuring the history and contributions of working people in BC would be preserved.
This video was produced in partnership with WorkSafeBC.
