Logging Industry Workers’ Memorial, Plaque

This bronze plaque is located at the Barriere Bandshell, on Barriere Township Rd. It was developed with the support of the Lower North Thompson Community Forest Society.

The plaque was cast at Ornamental Bronze, a unionized foundry in Richmond which has operated since 1928. It was unveiled on April 28, 2016.

This is one of many Plaques around the Province, a project of the BC Labour Heritage Centre which aims to recognize events, actions, episodes, movements, or experiences that played a significant role in the history of the labhttps://www.labourheritagecentre.ca/plaques-around-the-province/our movement and working people in all regions of British Columbia.

The plaque reads: In memory of those who have lost their lives as a result of their work in the forest industry. Forever free in the forest they share. Never forgotten. In gratitude to those who have fought to improve safety conditions for these workers. BC Labour Heritage Centre 2016
