Canadian Farmer-Labor Advocate, 1925-1926
The Canadian Farmer-Labor Advocate was published in Vancouver, BC weekly between 1925 and1926. It began publishing when the British Columbia Federationist folded. Farmer-labour movements were growing and challenging the existing economic and social order. Visit the Canadian Farmer-Labor Advocate digital archive (external link).
During the post-war period farmer groups began to promote co-operatives to counter big business, making them a natural ally for the labour movement. The newspaper aimed to promote solidarity between workers and farmers in BC.
The Canadian Farmer-Labor Advocate was not the official organ of any organization, wing or faction of the farmer-labor movement. It reprinted articles from the Federated Press and British Labor Press services.
